Cerro Concepción

When talking about Cerro Concepción we inmediately feel obligued to talk about our neighbor Cerro Alegre. This one was the first in being inhabitated during 1822 mainly by people belonging to the british colony; by its side, Cerro Concepcion received a big portion of the german colony. And all of them, looking for fresh air, awsome views to the bay and a place not so closed to the bustling downtown area. They designed a very singular urbanistic model with alleys and miradores, elegant mansions and flowerful gardens. Around 1840, who visited these neighbors saw and felt a plain european surrounding with a marked english style. The name of this hill is due to the old Fortress La Concepcion built in 1678 and settled in the zone where Paseo Atkinson is located.

By its so special geographical position including two touristy foreign churches, the Anglican church (1857) and the german Lutheran church (1897), besides two gorgeous outlooks from where you can watch the bay, other hills nearby and the coast of Viña del Mar, Cerro Concepcion is since 1850 the place where lots of europeans decided to stay.

And curiously, since the early begining of 2.000, many new inmigrants coming from Germany, England, Holand, Spain, Belgium and France have settled down in our Hill openingperfect hostels, hotels, restaurants and boutiques, likewise during the 18th century, when it was very easy to establish a company. Attached to this modern pioneers, many other national investors have privileged cerro Concepcion by opening first level businesses, the ones have brought lots of progress, employment and a well known international recognition.
